AFL Girls’ Program Launching in 2018

The Academy is excited to announce the launch of the AFL girls’ talented athlete development program in 2018. The program will be for girls aged 14-16 years who reside in the Academy’s catchment.

The program will have a strong focus on technical skills development but will also provide a holistic framework for the development of the young athletes. This will include educational seminars in fundamental topics such as Drugs in Sport, Nutrition, Social Media, Sports Psychology and Strength & Conditioning. There will also be opportunities for the athletes to participate in Academy activities, events and media opportunities.

The Academy will continue to work closely with the principal program partner AFL NSW/ACT to collaboratively implement the program in 2018. The AFL NSW/ACT will facilitate the access to the training venue at Blacktown International Sportspark and will also provide qualified coaching staff.  The Academy will administer, facilitate and monitor all program logistics, communications and activities.

Nominations for the program are currently open and all nominees can submit their details through the ‘NOMINATIONS’ page on this website. Selection trials will be held on Monday 12 February 2018 at Gipps Road Oval, Greystanes.
