Spartan Sports Supporting Western Sydney Talent

One of Australia’s iconic sports ball brands has announced it will support talented young athletes within western Sydney through a new partnership with The Academy. Spartan Sports, whose Head Office is based in Mosman on Sydney’s north shore, have confirmed they will support the Academy through various initiatives to get these great quality sports balls to not only the Academy’s talented athletes but the local clubs and associations in the Western Sydney region.

Ashleigh Hill Crowned National Champion

Earlier this month, Heartland Motors Lone Star athlete Ashleigh Hill represented New South Wales at the Australian Karate Federation’s National Championships held in Sydney. This event has the highest ranked athletes in Australia competing for the National Champion title and Ashleigh made sure she came out of the event with a medal.

Softballers Flood NSW Camp

Each year Softball NSW send out invitations to a select group of softballers, inviting them to participate in the Softball NSW U17 State Camp. This year the Academy had 16 athletes eligible for the invitation to the U17 State Camp of which all 16 were selected.

Wood Makes Senior International Debut

Heartland Motors Lone Star athlete Rachel Wood last week made her capped international debut for the Australian Life Saving Team. After a successful campaign last year in the Australian Youth Life Saving Team, Rachel has proven that she has what it takes to take on the big competitors.

Success For Western Sydney At AIYG

The last week of the school holidays saw the Academy’s netball and softball squads head to the Hunter region to participate in the annual Australian Invitational Youth Games hosted by the Hunter Academy of Sport. The games saw squads come from all over the state and internationally to compete in a tournament style competition.

Woolworths Scholarships Highlight Of The Year

Once a year Academy athletes get the opportunity to apply for a scholarship that provides valuable financial assistance to help ease the burden associated with progression to the elite level within their sport. Thanks to Woolworths Group one male and one female high achieving athlete will each receive a $5,000 cash grant to assist with the financial burdens of progressing through the elite pathways of their chosen sport. With this comes the opportunity for a ‘Team Athlete of the Year’ grant to be awarded.
