On Saturday 15 October the Academy inducted athletes from AFL, Softball, Netball, Cycling and Golf into the 2016/17 Programs. The induction day was held at the Western Sydney University’s Kingswood Campus (WSU) and accompanied by industry professionals who shared their knowledge with athletes to assist with their elite development, including a presentation by the University on gaining entry for sporting talent.
The Academy is excited to announce that asset management solutions company Mainpac Pty Ltd, based at Norwest Business Park in Baulkham Hills, has come on board as our Cycling Program Partner.
As a member of the Academy’s Auburn Lone Star program, Rachel Wood has had a year filled with incredible success. Rachel has competed in numerous tournaments throughout the year, winning an impressive array of medals. However none of those compare to her most recent achievements on a world stage.
On Friday 2 September Castle Hill RSL Club played host to the Academy’s athletes, athletes families and VIP guests for the 12th Annual Athlete Dinner & Awards Night. The night provided insight into each program as well as recognition for the athletes and program staff.
The Academy is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2016/17 sports programs. The Academy’s programs offer a range of benefits for the athletes that are successful in gaining a place within their respective sport. In partnership with the relevant State Sporting Organisations, the Academy provides opportunities for athletes within the western Sydney catchment to develop and refine their skills.
On Tuesday 23 August, the NSW Regional Academies of Sport gathered at NSW Parliament House for a Parliamentary Reception recognising the role of NSW Regional Academies and their outstanding athletes.
The Academy is proud to announce that the Academy’s corporate family has grown once again, with the addition of Elite Travel as the Academy’s Official Travel Partner. Elite Travel specialise in both Corporate and Leisure Travel and have more than 30 years of airline and travel experience.
On Wednesday 13 July, our Netball squad travelled to Maitland to compete in the Australian Invitational Youth Games hosted by the Hunter Academy of Sport. Our Academy had a team play in both Division 1 and Division 2. Both teams should great skill and team work with nothing but professionalism demonstrated throughout the tournament.
Over the weekend, Campbelltown played host to the U14 State Age Netball Championships. Two Academy Netballers, Matisse Letherbarrow and Sarah Okunbor, played in the Baulkham Hills Representative Team in a weekend of strong competition.
On Saturday 25 June, Academy cyclists made their way to Wagga Wagga, NSW to compete in the Wagga Wagga Junior Tour in some icey cold conditions. The weekend saw the athletes compete in several races, and come out of their events with some impressive results. On Day 1, the athletes competed in the Road Race & Criterium, Day 2 was the Road Race & Time Trial.
