Slalom Canoe / Kayak

Slalom Canoe / Kayak
Progression to the AIS and NSWIS squads is the targeted outcome for slalom athletes

The 2011/12 Slalom Squad has been training on the whitewater and flat water at Penrith Whitewater Stadium under the guidance of AIS/NCE coaching staff. The squad members including: Alex Broome, Lachlan Croft, Noemie Fox, Ciaran Kelly and Angus Thompson have also attended a strength and conditioning workshop and nutritious cooking session at the NSW Institute of Sport.

Congratulations to Noemie Fox, Angus Thompson and Lachlan Croft who have been rewarded for their hard work with selection in the National Talent Squad. Squad members are now working towards a number of important races over the summer period.

The Academy’s Slalom (Canoe/Kayak) Program has established benchmarks in performances for Academy athletes, as well as benchmarks in the standard of facilities and coaching resources applied to an Academy program.

An emerging Olympic sport, Slalom has the benefit of the best available venue in the southern hemisphere - the Penrith Whitewater Stadium - at which to conduct on-water coaching sessions. These sessions are resourced by the AIS/NCE Program coaching staff, also situated at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium.

Athletes receive intense on-water coached and un-coached access and are supported in a number of competition and camp opportunities both inter-State and at the Penrith Stadium.
