Academy Squads Gear up for NIB Games

The Western Sydney Academy of Sport Softball and Netball squads will head to the Hunter Region from 10 -14 July to compete in what will be their final competitions for 2013, the Hunter Academy of Sport nib Games.

Coach Development Workshops

The Academy recently held two Coach Development Workshops open to Coaches and Managers from both our Academy and the South West Sydney Academy of Sport. The Academy was successful in gaining a Women's Sport Leadership Grant through the Australian Sports Commission to run this series of workshops with a focus on coaching young female athletes as well as developing female coaches.

Academy League Squads Recognised

The Western Sydney Academy of Sport’s Harold Matthews and SG Ball squads have been recognised for their participation in the Academy’s Rugby League program at a Presentation evening held at St Mary’s Rugby League Club on Monday 27 May 2013.

AFL Match Play Series Kicks Off

The Academy’s AFL Program has kicked off for 2013. Both U13 and U14 development squads have been training under the guidance of the GWS coaching staff since March and had their first match play series on the 8 May against development squads from SWSAS and GWS at Blacktown International Sportspark

Inaugural Triathlon Program a Success

The Academy’s inaugural Triathlon Program commenced in September 2012, and recently came to a close with athletes competing in their first ClubsNSW Academy Games in April to end what has been a very successful Program.
