ACADEMY DIRECTOR - EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

The Academy is presently seeking Expressions of Interest for the position of Community Director on the Academy Board. Those persons interested can download the nomination information by clicking on the link below, and following the requirements indicated.

Athletes and family members have an opportunity to purchase old clothing stock from the Academy at even more reduced prices ! With winter fast approaching an extra track suit or two might come in handy - and there is always a need for that extra training shirt or singlet for home training ! NETBALL

15s TRIAL DATE CHANGE

Following a request from Netball NSW to reschedule our trials due to the conduct of the State Age Tournament on 11th-12th July, the Academy's selection trial date has now been changed. The new trial date will be Friday 7th August at the Anne Clarke Centre from 6pm-9pm. All athletes who submitted nominations must contact Cristie Finlayson at the Academy office to acknowledge that they are aware of the date change.

SLALOM

SLALOM ATHLETES TAKE ON THE WORLD'S BEST

The majority of the previous slalom squad are currently competing in Italy as part of the International Canoeing Federation World Ranking Event. Jessica Fox (pictured) showed great determination and was rewarded with a Bronze medal. The athletes will soon travel to France to compete. Good luck to all involved!

SOFTBALL

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL RADIO STATION

Local radio station 2CCR FM has a regular Sports Show which has been featuring local Academy athletes on the first Saturday of every month at approximately 8am. This Saturday 4th July will feature softballer Kate Proctor where she will be talking about her experiences with the Academy. The next interview will be with cyclist Luke Collyer on 1st August. If you would like to listen just tune in to 90.5FM.

ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

The Academy is pleased to name Netballer Nicole Franks as the SKINS Athlete of the Month for June 2009.

Nicole was nominated by Head Coach Pate Cooper for her oustanding dedication and achievements recently. Nicole was recently selected in the NSW Institute of Sport Emerging Athlete Program and made it to the final stage of the NSW U19s selections. Nicole always gives 100% on and off the court and is committed to her training.

Congratulations Nicole, and thanks to SKINS for their continued and strong support of the Academy and its athletes. Nicole will now be able to order $400 worth of SKINS clothing that will assist her in her training and performances !
