LAWN BOWLS PROGRAM NOMINATIONS OPEN !

The Academy is pleased to announce that its new Lawn Bowls Program is now seeking nominations from talented young bowlers. This exciting program, supported by Club Merrylands and Mount Lewis Bowling Club and endorsed by Lawn Bowls NSW, will commnece with trials being held on Friday 26th February 2010. BUDDING MASTER CHEFS

On 2 February a new netball squad of 18 girls were inducted into the 2010 Academy Netball Program. Following the induction meeting, the squad of 18 girls participated in their first educational seminar on the topic of Sports Nutrition, which included a practical cooking session. The athletes are keen to commence the program which will include education seminars, competition opportunities and fitness testing.

              A ROYAL OPPORTUNITY

A BBQ WITH THE PRINCE !

On 20th January four lucky Academy Athletes were selected to attend a BBQ lunch with Prince William. Nicole Franks, Kathryn Thew, Ethan Hodson and Joey Croft all attended the lunch overlooking the harbour, together with a small number of other guests. The athletes were a little starstruck by some of the famous people in attendance, including Ian Thorpe, and a lot of media.               CYCLING HEAD COACH POSITION 

 

The Academy is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons for the position of head coach of the 2010 Academy Cycling Program.

Please read the following flyer for more information and contact the Academy of you would like a position description. Expressions of Interest must be received by the Academy no later than 26th February 2010.

                  ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

 

Academy Softballer Taylah Tsitsikronis has earned the SKINS Athlete of the Month Award after a strong showing in the Softball squad overthe month of January. Taylah was nominated by Head Coach John Neilsen for her outstanding dedication and recent achievements. In her third year on scholarship with the Academy, Taylah was selected in the 2010 U16 State team and captained the squad onto winning the Nationals as well as being announced as MVP of the tournament. Taylah was also recently selected in the U19 Australian Womens Squad.    

Our thanks to SKINS™ for their continued and strong support of the Academy and its athletes. Taylah will now be able to order SKINS™ clothing that will assist her in her training and performances !
