Digital Realty Netball Umpire Makayla Hickson is being recognised as the Elite Travel Community Citizen of the Year nominee for April.
Makayla works hard to help other netball athletes in her community. She runs drills with younger athlete’s and teaches them basic techniques such as how to catch the ball, where to run and where each position can go and can’t go. She often umpires the U8s and teaches them the rules as she goes, making sure every child on the court gets a chance with the ball.
Makayla supports the women’s team and offers to play with them when they are short of players. She helps with club duties such as working on the BBQ, she will even assist adults and children by offering to help carry their bought items back to where they sit.
When Makayla isn’t at netball she goes with her Dad to help at SES volunteer days in her club colours or training clothes.
