AFL GIRLS PROGRAM

The Academy’s AFL Girls Program provides development opportunities for talented young, female AFL players in the Western Sydney region. In partnership with the AFL NSW/ACT this development program provides opportunities for talented young female players in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development.

The Program will comprise of technical, athlete education, sports science and fitness elements for scholarship holders. A maximum of 40 athletes will be selected to participate in the Program.

To be eligible for the Academy 2020/21 AFL Girls’ Program, athletes must be:

  • Born between 2003 – 2006;
  • Committed to progressing to higher representation within the sport of AFL;
  • Currently residing within the Local Government Areas of Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Cumberland, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith or The Hills.

An athlete levy will apply to athletes selected into the program and this will be advised at the time of selection.

In addition to regular scheduled training sessions, the following benefits will apply to athletes selected within the WSAS AFL Girls’ Program:

  • Access to first class training facilities;
  • Athlete education program including seminars provided by specialists in nutrition, sports psychology, cyber safety, integrity in sport and injury management & prevention;
  • Access to online portals for ASADA and other relevant websites;
  • Access to the WSAS Team App online communication system;
  • Academy athlete uniform clothing;
  • Free access to Fit 4 All gym in Penrith;
  • Ability to nominate for the annual Woolworths Athlete Scholarship;
  • A discount on services provided by Sydney West Sports Medicine.
