The Academy’s Rowing Program has been developed and will be implemented, in close consultation and collaboration with Rowing NSW and the NSW Institute of Sport. The Program provides an essential and highly relevant step in the development pathway of young rowing athletes from across the Western Sydney Region – with the ultimate goal of preparing these talented young players for progression to State and National representation squad selection.

To be eligible for the Academy Rowing Program, athletes must be:

  • Aged between 15-20 years of age at the time of the program;
  • Committed to progressing to higher representation within the sport of rowing;
  • Currently residing within the Local Government Areas of Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, City of Parramatta, Penrith or The Hills.

An athlete levy of $200 is applicable to athletes, which assists in meeting the costs of the Program.

In addition to regular scheduled training sessions, the following benefits will apply to athletes selected within the WSAS Rowing Program:

  • Valuable athlete education seminars which may include nutrition, physiology and injury management & prevention;
  • Access to online portals for ASADA and other relevant websites;
  • Academy athlete uniform clothing;
  • Ability to nominate for the annual Woolworths Athlete Scholarship;
  • A discount on services provided by Sydney West Sports Medicine;
  • Free membership to Fit 4 All gym located in Penrith.
