Sporting Stars Take The Stage For Academy Fundraiser

Western Sydney Academy of Sport held its eighth annual fundraising event ‘A Night With The Stars’ on Friday 10 March at Castle Hill RSL, with over 250 guests in attendance. This event is the Academy’s major fundraiser, assisting in providing athlete development programs for western Sydney’s young talented athletes.

The event started with a wonderful performance from Sony Music’s Justice Crew who performed song and dance acts to an excited room.

Foxsports commentator Bill Woods was our celebrity guest MC for the event, guiding the large audience through the nights entertainment.

Andrew Hill, CEO of the Rugby League World Cup was joined on stage by Nathan Hindmarsh having a chat with Bill about whats in store for the Rugby League World Cup and the exciting developments of the large scale event. Cameron Girdlestone (Olympic silver medallist – rowing), Mahalia Murphy (Women’s Rugby 7s) and Terry Lamb (Rugby League Great) all took part in the Bar Stool Banter segment discussing the meaning and the importance of team work in achieving your pinnacle and the changing nature of professional sporting environments.

Live & silent auctions, raffle and business card draws made up the fundraising elements of the night with the live auction being conducted by Allan Drew.

The Academy would like to acknowledge the fantastic donations of all the event supporters of ‘A Night With The Stars’ which assisted in¬†raising valuable funds. The Academy would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all the event partners who took a table at the event as well as the great host venue Castle Hill RSL Club.

The night saw over $36,000 raised to assist with providing western Sydney athletes with development opportunities.
