2018 Golf Camp Beat The Heat

This years annual golf camp was met with record high temperatures and a very hot golf course. Academy golfers were not deterred by these odds and spent 22 & 23 January learning new skills and insights from industry professionals out at the Academy’s Official Golf Venue, Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.

The two day camp began on Monday morning with a club fitting from the Academy’s Official Golf Partner, Callaway. Callaway representative Colin Mitchell spent several hours with Academy athletes making sure they were all informed on what they would need by way of clubs to get the best out of their golf training and competition.

Following the Callaway club fitting, Head Coach Luke McNaughton spent some time facilitating skills sessions on the driving range and on bunker and chipping technique. Day one was concluded with a Match Play session.

Day two of the camp kicked off with a golf specific sports psychology session held by industry leading sports psychologist John Crampton. This education session is a part of the brand new Athlete Education Program brought to us by our Major Community Sponsor ClubsNSW. This session opened up a whole new way of thinking for the golfers, for training and competition.

Following on from this education session Luke continued with a skills session in shot making followed by a stroke play competition to conclude the camp.

It was a great two days had by all. A special thank you to Luke McNaughton, Colin Mitchell (Callaway) and John Crampton for your attendance and the expertise that you handed down to the Academy golfers, and to Twin Creeks for once again hosting us at your incredible venue. Bring on 2018!
