Western Sydney Academy of Sport Softball athlete Bridie Murphy has been announced as the May recipient for the Penrith Valley Sport Foundation’s Junior Sportsperson of the Month award.
Brenna Tarrant, Emily Hurley and Georgia Garnett, three talented young AFL athletes were selected in the AFL NSW/ACT Rams team and kicked off the first round of the U18 Championships last weekend.
On 24, 25 and 26 May the Regional Academies of Sport, in partnership with Jack Newton Junior Golf came together to compete in the North vs South Golf Cup.
Yesterday afternoon we had the pleasure of introducing Aisha & Rebecca from Soul Tribe to Amelia Bennett, an impressive young AFL athlete.
A huge 2 months is coming up for 5 talented softball athletes, two current and three graduates. Two boys will be heading to Prague for the Softball World Championships and three girls will tour the USA with the U17 Girls Aussie Diamonds.
Stretching has been one of the ‘go to’ treatments for physios, doctors and just about anyone who knows anything about anything since just about forever. I can’t count the number of clients I see who tell me they’ve tried to fix their problems by just “stretching it out”. Of these clients, some say that stretching relieves their pain but others often tell me that stretching either didn’t make a difference or that is even made it worse. So what do we do? Do we stretch or not stretch?
May has been a big one here at the Academy and with so many athletes achieving their goals we just couldn’t let it pass without sharing. A huge congratulations to all for the major accomplishments made this month!
On Monday 13 May, five talented athletes from the Western Sydney Academy of Sport attended an afternoon tea hosted by the Penrith City Council where they were given the opportunity to discuss their achievements and thank the council for its continued support.

In April 2019, four Academy basketball athletes attended the 3×3 Big Hustle National Championships in Geelong. The boys went home as the first ever Under 14 NBL 3×3 Big Hustle National Champions!
