Academy Alumni Star in the Super Netball League
This month saw the launch of the Suncorp Super Netball League. After parting ways with New Zealand and ceasing the ANZ Championship this new Super League was born. With the Nine Network and Telstra teaming up to broadcast the games each week.
Academy alumni Kristina Brice (Giants Netball), Kim Ravaillion (Collingwood Netball), Paige Hadley (NSW Swifts) and Amy Sommerville (NSW Swifts) have all secured places in the competition.
Kristina Brice who hails from Hassall Grove played her junior netball at Baulkham Hills and was a member of the Academy’s netball program from 2008-2011, now playing from the Giants Netball Club in the shooting circle.
Kim Ravaillion now playing for the Collingwood Netball Club played her junior netball at Fairfield and attended Westfields Sports High School. Kim was in the Academy’s netball squad from 2007-2010 and plays in the mid-court.
Paige Hadley has been named Co-Captain of the NSW Swifts team this year but netball started for Paige out at Penrith where she played netball in her younger years establishing herself as a strong mid-court player. Paige attended the Hills Sports High School and was a member of the Academy from 2006-2009. Since moving on Paige comes back from time to time to give back to the Academy, including a special coaching session with more recent Academy netball squads.
Amy Sommerville is also playing for the NSW Swifts in the new League. Amy was with the Academy from 2007-2009 and played junior netball with the Eastwood-Ryde Netball Association and went to school at Westfields Sports High School. Amy is a strong shooter playing in goal attack and goal shooter positions.
The Academy wishes all these athletes the best success in the new Suncorp Super Netball League. Tune in to 9Gem tomorrow (18/2/17) evening at 5:10pm to watch the first game of the competition and local derby between Giants Netball and NSW Swifts.
