The Western Sydney Academy of Sport is excited to announce a new development program for talented young western Sydney Rugby Union players! The innovative program will provide young athletes with opportunities to receive technical, educational, and personal development.

As a part of the program athletes will undertake Strength & Conditioning sessions as well as technical content based on the Rugby Australia Curriculum and NSW Waratahs Academy learnings.

Educational seminars will be held on topics such as Nutrition, Cyber Safety, Mental Health and Sport Psychology. Athletes participating in the development program will also undertake the Sports Integrity Australia starter courses in ‘Anti-Doping Fundamentals’ and ‘Ethical Decision Making’.

Throughout the duration of the program athletes will be provided opportunities to attend Academy events, be nominated for sports awards and receive promotion for their achievements on the Academy website and social media platforms.

To be eligible for the development program athletes must be born between 2004 and 2008 and reside within the Academy’s geographic catchment including the following local Government areas: Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Cumberland, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith and The Hills Shire.

It is expected that athletes nominating for this program must be committed to progressing to a higher level of representation within the sport of Rugby Union.
