Athletics Represented In New Lone Star Program
The Academy has welcomed young Paige Merriman from Westfields Sports High School into the new Heartland Motors Lone Star program. Paige has been competing in Athletics since 2007 at a mere four years of age. Specialising in long distance events including the 800m, 1500m and 2000m steeplechase, Paige has high achievements on a National level.
Paige told of how she is looking forward to “trying new things, learning new things and being a part of the Academy”. Recent achievements include placing 9th in the 2000m steeplechase at Nationals and placing 2nd in the State Cross Country, this was Paige’s most memorable sporting achievement to date.
Paige’s sporting hero is Chloe Esposito who won the gold medal in the modern pentathlon at the 2016 Rio Olympics “she inspires me, I love her attitude and dedication towards her sport”, Paige explains.
“No pain, no gain… Rob Marks, my old coach always told me you get out what you put in”, Paige talks about her dreams of one day representing Australia.
The Academy is pleased to welcome Paige and look forward to helping her work closer towards achieving her goals.
