Emily Johnston Bowls Over Her Competition
Emily Johnston is a member of the Academy’s Auburn Lone Star Program and shows undeniable talent in her sport, Ten Pin Bowling. In February, Emily competed in both the Junior Open Masters and the Youth Masters, as a part of the NSW State Championships. Competition ran over two weekends at Superstrike on Warners Bay. Emily won Gold in the NSW Junior Open Masters and placed 4th in the Youth Masters.
Following on from this, during the April school holidays, Emily travelled to Melbourne to compete in the 2016 Australian Junior Championships. Only 24 girls made the cut to continue on to the Masters, and Emily achieved 5th place from 24. Emily walked away from the competition with the Bronze medal.
Emily has gone on to captain the Southern New South Wales girls team at the President Junior Interstate Shield, competing against each State and Territory over three days of competition. Emily received the Girls Sports Person Award at the presentation dinner.
Emily has another month of strong competitions approaching.
