Freestyle Athletes Make Their Mark In Argentina

The Academy’s Freestyle Canoe athletes have spent the last week in San Juan, Argentina competing in the 2017 ICF Freestyle World Championships. The four Western Sydney athletes have competed in a variety of races with some finals qualifications as highlights!

Local Faulconbridge resident Luke Carter was ranked 10th in the world in the Open Men’s Squirt category and 52nd in the All Age Mens K1 category.

Christian Hilounakis from Cranebrook was ranked 9th in the Open Men’s Squirt category and 14th in the Junior Men’s K1.

Liam Dowd who travels down to the Whitewater Stadium from up in the Mountains placed 22nd in the Junior Men’s K1.

Maddy Lewis has made it through to the semi finals of the Junior Women K1 and will be competing at 3:30am AEST.
