Penrith Valley Sports Stars
Two Academy athletes have been awarded the May 2016 Junior and Senior Sports Star of the Month awards by the Penrith Valley Sports Foundation for their outstanding recent achievements. Stephen Cuff, who won the Junior award for his recent Cycling achievements, was selected for the following results:
3rd in the State Hill Climb
2nd in the U17 Division 1 Criterium
1st in the Bathurst to Blayney 70km Short Course
3rd in the National Hill Climb Championships Trial
3rd in the National Hill Climb Championships Road Race
Selection into the 2016 Junior Track National Championships Team
2nd in the Madison Race and in the Inidividual Race at the State Championships
3rd in the Scratch Race at the State Championships
The Senior award was given to Academy softballer Eliza Murphy. Eliza has had an outstanding month of achievements, with the following accolades:
Junior Glenmore Phantoms Club Person of the Year 2016
Captain of the U17’s Penrith representative team, leading them to their first State Championships win in 20 years.
Winner of the Presidents Cup Competition 2016
Winner of the Annual Easter Carnival in Waverley 2016
Winner of the NSW CIS Carnival 2016
Member of the National Champions Team 2015 & 2016
Selection into the NSW State All Schools Team
Winner of the National All Schools Championships
Selection into the Australian All Schools Team
Congratulations to both athletes on their awards. The Academy would like to wish Eliza good luck as she heads to Hawaii later this year to represent Australia as a part of the Australian All Schools Team.
