On Saturday 17 October nine talented Academy athletes competed at the 2020 Rowing NSW Spring Regatta held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre.

For four of these athletes, this was the first official rowing event they’ve competed in.

On the day Olivia Harris won gold in both the women’s Novice Single Scull and the women’s Novice Double Scull with partner Sofia Zamprogno.

Another gold medal was secured by Aimee Wagner and Gauri Kotera in the women’s D grade Coxed four! Aimee also placed 2nd in the women’s C grade Coxless Pair and 3rd in the women’s B grade Single Scull.

Other fantastic results from the day include:

  • Leila Fonua and partner Maliha Zulfiqar placing 3rd in the women’s Novice Double Scull.
  • Sarah Berechree placing 3rd in the women’s C grade Quad Scull and 4th in the women’s C grade Double Scull.
  • Hugh Harrold partnered with Assistant Coach Jason Waddell placing 2nd in both the men’s C grade Double Scull and the men’s C grade Coxless Pair.
  • Alex Vella placing 2nd in both the men’s D grade Double Scull and the men’s D grade Quad Scull.
  • Sofia Zamprogno placing 4th in the women’s Novice Single Scull.
  • Gauri Kotera placing 3rd in the women’s D grade Double Scull.
