Western Sydney Academy of Sport Softball athlete Bridie Murphy has been announced as the May recipient for the Penrith Valley Sport Foundation’s Junior Sportsperson of the Month award.
Bridie is in her second year with the Academy and has played Softball since she was five years old. Late last year she was selected for the Victorian U17 State Team and competed at Nationals. Her outstanding performance at Nationals secured her a spot in the 2019 Australian U17’s Diamond Squad to tour the USA in June and July this year.
Recently, Bridie was also selected in the 2019 U18’s AllSchools NSW Softball Squad and competed at the School Sport Australia Nationals Tournament at Canberra in May.
Bridie is training hard and says she’s “working towards bettering my game and improving my skills to increase my chance of making the 2020 Australian Junior Spirit team to participate at the Junior World Cup.”
Congratulations on this award Bridie. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you!
