TRIATHLON PROGRAM

The Academy’s Triathlon Program provides quality athlete development opportunities for talented young athletes in the western Sydney region. In partnership with Triathlon NSW, the program provides development opportunities for athletes in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation.

The Program includes specific skill and educational components developed by the Academy, Triathlon NSW and the coaching staff. These program elements allow athletes to further progress along the Triathlon NSW development pathway.

To be eligible to nominate for a scholarship within the Academy’s 2022/23 Triathlon Program, athletes must be: 

  • Aged between 13 – 18;
  • Committed to progressing to higher levels of representation within the sport of Triathlon;
  • A current financial member of a triathlon club within the western Sydney region;
  • Currently residing within the Local Government Areas of Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, City of Parramatta, Penrith or The Hills.

An athlete levy of $280 is applicable to athletes, this assists in meeting the costs of the program.

In addition to regular scheduled training sessions, the following benefits will apply to athletes selected within the WSAS Academy Triathlon Program: 

  • Access to first class training facilities;
  • Athlete education program including seminars provided by specialists in nutrition, sports psychology, cyber safety, integrity in sport and injury management & prevention;
  • Access to online portals for Sports Integrity Australia and other relevant websites;
  • Insight into what it takes to become a professional athlete;
  • Identification and training methods to correct technique;
  • Opportunities to represent WSAS at various events;
  • Academy athlete uniform clothing;
  • Strength and Conditioning Services;
  • A discount on services provided by Sydney West Sports Medicine.
