The Academy’s Golf Program provides high performance training opportunities for talented young athletes in the Western Sydney region. In partnership with Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) the program provides opportunities for pre-elite golfers in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation.

The Program follows the golf curriculum set by JNJG which includes specific skill components, testing and reporting procedures. Together with competition opportunities, this assists athletes to further progress in the golf development pathway.

Duration: October – April

Venues:  Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club

The Program comprises of technical development, athlete education, sports science, fitness elements and personal development opportunities for Academy scholarship holders. The Program aims to prepare athletes for progression to higher levels of individual performance and achievement, specifically the JNJG State Junior Talent Development Program.

Athletes will have the opportunity to compete at the Your Local Club Academy Games.

2021/22 GOLF SQUAD

To be eligible for the Academy 2021/22 Golf Program, athletes must be: 

  • Born between 2003 – 2008;
  • Committed to progressing to higher representation within the sport of golf;
  • A current financial member of a Golf Club or Association within the western Sydney region;
  • Currently residing within the Local Government Areas of Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Cumberland, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith or The Hills.

An athlete levy of $400 is applicable to athletes, which assists in meeting the costs of the Program.

In addition to regular scheduled training sessions, the following benefits will apply to athletes selected within the WSAS Golf Program: 

  • Access to first class training facilities at Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club;
  • Individual, as well as squad coaching;
  • Insight into what it takes to become a professional golfer;
  • Identification and training methods to correct technique;
  • Opportunities to represent WSAS at various events;
  • Athlete education program including seminars provided by specialists in nutrition, sports psychology, cyber safety, integrity in sport and injury management & prevention;
  • Access to online portals for ASADA and other relevant websites;
  • Access to the latest golfing technology provided by TrackMan;
  • Academy athlete uniform clothing;
  • Access to Fit 4 All gym located in Penrith;
  • Ability to nominate for the annual Woolworths Athlete Scholarship;
  • A discount on services provided by Sydney West Sports Medicine.
